Fatou Sarr (she/her) is a Senegalese-American scholar and artist living in Canada. Fatou hold two Honours degrees in both Biochemistry and Psychology from the University of Ottawa, and is currently a PhD student at the University of Ottawa within the M.A/PhD Experimental Psychology accelerated program.
Her research focuses on understanding the relationship between unconscious processes and our memory systems. Like Shrek, she is motivated by the many layers that exist between what we do in our everyday lives and the influences that go unnoticed.
Fatou is also a self-taught artist who enjoys the emotional aspects of abstract art. Her favourite part about creating paintings is when the painting itself has many secret sections of beauty. With abstract art, she believes that the combinations of certain colours or textures can have different meanings to different people and therefore, evoking private and unique experiences for the viewer.
